Rosedale ironstone kilns and railway
Industrial ruins along a level railway trackbed high above Rosedale, now one of the finest walks on the moors.
Level walking along an old mineral railway around the dale head, past ruined kilns, with the Lion Inn half way.

From the top of Chimney Bank walk north along the railway trackbed past the Bank Top kilns, contouring high above the dale. The line curves round the head of Rosedale below Blakey Ridge, where a short detour up to the road reaches the Lion Inn for lunch.
Continue on the east side of the dale to the East Mines kilns, then drop down through Hill Cottages to Rosedale Abbey and climb back up Chimney Bank to the car park. That last climb is 1 in 3 for a good stretch.
