The Lion Inn stands alone on Blakey Ridge, the highest point on the road from Hutton-le-Hole to Castleton, with views down both dales. It has been an inn since 1553, has low beams and open fires, serves large plates of pub food all day, and gets cut off by snow most winters. The Coast to Coast passes the door.
