Robin Hood's Bay to Ravenscar

Head south on the Cleveland Way past Boggle Hole and Stoupe Beck, climbing to Ravenscar with views back across the whole bay. At Ravenscar look for seals below the alum works, then return on the Cinder Track, the trackbed of the Scarborough to Whitby railway, which curves gently back around the bay through woods and fields.

At low tide the outward leg can be done on the beach as far as Boggle Hole, but check the tide tables first.

• Several steep flights of steps on the coast path
• The Cinder Track is level and shared with cyclists
• Ravenscar Tea Rooms in the village (the National Trust cafe closed in September 2026)
• Landslips have closed parts of the cliff path between Robin Hood's Bay and Stoupe Beck, with an inland diversion since January 2026. Follow the signed diversion and check the Cleveland Way alerts before setting out
