Yorkshire Gliding Club
Trial gliding flights launched from the edge of Sutton Bank, riding the ridge lift above the Vale of York.
The Yorkshire Gliding Club has flown from the top of Sutton Bank since 1934, and the escarpment provides ridge lift on a westerly wind that keeps gliders aloft for hours. Trial flights with an instructor are available most days in summer and can be booked ahead. The clubhouse cafe is open to walkers on the Cleveland Way.
