Lordstones sits in a saddle of the Cleveland Hills between Carlton Bank and Cringle Moor, one of the highest points on the road from Stokesley to Chop Gate. The Cleveland Way and Coast to Coast paths pass through the gate, so it is a natural stop for walkers, and the car park is the easy way up to Cringle Moor's viewpoint or the Wainstones.
The country park has a café with a terrace, a farm shop selling the estate's own Belted Galloway beef, a restaurant and a glamping site of pods, bell tents and yurts. Hang-gliders and paragliders launch from Carlton Bank on the right wind, and the Bronze Age Three Lords' Stone that gives the place its name stands by the road.
