Sutton Bank and the National Park Centre

Sutton Bank is where the A170 climbs the western escarpment in a series of hairpins, and at the top the land drops away to reveal the Vale of York, Gormire Lake and, on a clear day, the Pennines and the Yorkshire Dales.

The National Park Centre has a cafe, bike hire, an exhibition and a bird feeding station. From here you can walk south along the edge to the Kilburn White Horse, north to Gormire Lake, or take the family-friendly cycle trails. The Yorkshire Gliding Club launches from the cliff top beside the path.
