Cod Beck is the easiest walk on the western moors, a two-mile circuit on good paths around a reservoir set among Scots pines. Half the route is fully accessible. Watch for red squirrels' larger grey cousins and dippers on the outflow stream. There is a car park on the Hawnby road and the Cleveland Way passes the northern end.
