Shandy Hall

Sterne was vicar of Coxwold from 1760 and wrote most of Tristram Shandy and A Sentimental Journey in this medieval house, which he named after his novel. The Laurence Sterne Trust keeps it as a museum with the largest collection of Sterne editions in the world, and the two acres of garden, with a wild garden in an old quarry, are open more often than the house.
