Coxwold

Coxwold lies just inside the southern boundary of the National Park below the Hambleton Hills, a single wide street of stone cottages climbing to an octagonal-towered church. Laurence Sterne was vicar here while writing Tristram Shandy and his house, Shandy Hall, is at the top of the village. Byland Abbey is a mile east and the Fauconberg Arms is a good lunch stop.
