Falling Foss and the Hermitage
Woodland waterfall with a tea garden beside it and a cave hermitage carved from a boulder.
Falling Foss is a nine-metre waterfall in Sneaton Forest south of Whitby, and the Falling Foss Tea Garden beside it is one of the most charming spots to eat cake in Yorkshire. A short walk downstream leads to the Hermitage, a shelter hollowed out of a single boulder in 1790.
The easy circular from May Beck car park takes about an hour and a half.
