Staithes harbour and beach

Walk down the steep bank from the car park into a village that has barely changed in a century. The harbour is guarded by two breakwaters and Cowbar Nab, and the beach beyond has rock pools and fossils. Staithes Museum on the High Street tells the story of the village, from fishing and ironstone mining to Captain Cook's apprenticeship here and the Staithes Group of painters.

Head over the footbridge to Cowbar for the classic view back across the harbour.
