A colony of grey seals lives on the rocky shore beneath Ravenscar, and from the Cleveland Way above the alum works you can usually see dozens hauled out at low tide. Pups are born in autumn. Keep to the cliff top; disturbing the seals moves them off the rocks and puts pups at risk.
