Ravenscar was laid out as a Victorian seaside resort that never attracted buyers, and the roads to nowhere are still there. What you get instead is a lonely headland with big views over Robin Hood's Bay, an old alum works, a National Trust centre and a seal colony on the rocks below.
The Cleveland Way and the Cinder Track cycle path both pass through.
