The NYMR is one of the busiest heritage railways in the world, and one of the most scenic. Steam and vintage diesel locomotives haul trains from Pickering up through the Newton Dale gorge, stopping at Levisham, Goathland and Grosmont before running on to Whitby on the main line.

Buy a day rover and hop on and off. Levisham is the stop for the Hole of Horcum, Goathland for Mallyan Spout, Grosmont for the engine sheds. Special events through the year include steam galas, wartime weekends and Santa specials.
