Malton is fifteen minutes south of Pickering and outside the park, but it has become the food town of the region: a monthly food market, Talbot Yard's artisan producers, a cookery school and the May food festival. It also has a main-line railway station, a Roman fort site and the Eden Camp wartime museum on its edge. Castle Howard is ten minutes away.
