Malton is fifteen minutes south of Pickering and outside the park, but it has become the food town of the region: monthly markets, Talbot Yard's artisan producers and a cookery school. It also has a main-line railway station, a Roman fort site and the Eden Camp wartime museum on its edge. Castle Howard is ten minutes away.
