Rievaulx Abbey
One of the most complete and beautiful Cistercian abbeys in England, in a wooded valley near Helmsley.
Four Roman military earthworks on the moor edge north of Pickering, with a waymarked trail.

Cawthorn is one of the best-preserved Roman military sites in Britain: two forts and two temporary camps built around AD 90-120, probably as a training ground for troops based at Malton. The ramparts are still clear in the turf. A mile-long trail with information boards circles the site and there are views north over the moors.
