Egton Bridge Old Gooseberry Show
The oldest gooseberry show in the country, held on the first Tuesday of August since 1800, with berries the size of hens' eggs.
Wooded valley village of gooseberries, stepping stones and a grand Catholic church

Egton Bridge lies deep in the Esk Valley where the river is crossed by two sets of stepping stones. St Hedda's church, built in 1866, is unexpectedly large and richly decorated for a hamlet of this size, a legacy of the village's long Catholic history and its martyr, Nicholas Postgate.
The Egton Bridge Old Gooseberry Show, held on the first Tuesday of August since 1800, is the oldest surviving gooseberry show in the country.
