Dates TBC NYMR Autumn Steam Gala
Intensive weekend of steam with visiting locomotives, freight trains and late-running services.
The oldest gooseberry show in the country, held on the first Tuesday of August since 1800, with berries the size of hens' eggs.

Growers bring their heaviest gooseberries to be weighed on apothecary scales in a schoolroom in the Esk Valley, as they have done every year since 1800. The world record, over 64 grams, was set here. Entirely serious, entirely charming and over in an afternoon.
