Over October half term the North Yorkshire Moors Railway runs its normal heritage trains between Pickering and Whitby with Halloween extras. Children in fancy dress who say "trick or treat" at the shops at Pickering, Goathland or Grosmont get a free chocolate treat, while stocks last, and there are spooky selfie frames around the stations. The tea rooms at Pickering, Goathland and Grosmont serve hot chocolate and Halloween biscuits.
Kids go free on standard services (one child per fare-paying adult) and school holiday fares apply. Extra activities include Spooky Tiny Engine Tuesday on 27 October and Spooky Station Stay and Play on 28 October. For grown-ups and older teenagers, Mad Alice's Ghost Train runs on Sunday evenings.
