The centrepiece of Castle Howard's Vanbrugh 300 year, this exhibition curated by the architect Roz Barr explores how Sir John Vanbrugh, playwright, soldier, spy and self-taught architect, used scale, shadow and light to create one of Britain's most theatrical houses, from his first meeting with the 3rd Earl of Carlisle at London's Kit-Cat Club onwards. It closes in late October.
