Stokesley is just outside the National Park to the north, a market town of Georgian brick and stone around a long green and a broad market place with the River Leven running behind. Friday is market day, September brings the huge Stokesley Show, and the Cleveland Hills fill the southern skyline. A useful base for Roseberry Topping and the western escarpment, with more shops and pubs than the villages.
