Sleights is the last village before Whitby on the Esk Valley line and the road from Pickering, at the foot of Blue Bank where the A169 drops off the moor. In October and November salmon and sea trout leap the weir at Ruswarp downstream. It is a practical base for Whitby without the summer crowds and prices.
