Runswick Bay is a crescent of sand backed by a village that clings to the cliff in a jumble of cottages and terraced gardens. It is one of the best beaches on this stretch of coast for families, sheltered from the north by Kettleness headland.
Walk the beach at low tide to the Hob Holes, small caves said to be home to a hobgoblin who could cure whooping cough.
