Railway in Wartime weekend

Pickering turns back the clock to the 1940s with re-enactors, vintage vehicles, big-band music and wartime trains.

These dates are based on when this event usually takes place and have not been confirmed by the organiser for this year. Please check before travelling.

For one weekend the railway and the town go back to the Second World War: costumed visitors and re-enactors fill the streets, there are military vehicles on the market place, dances in the halls and steam trains running to Goathland, itself dressed as a wartime village. One of the most popular events on the moors; book trains early and expect Pickering to be full.
