For one weekend Pickering goes back to the 1940s. Revived in 2025 by the town in partnership with Eden Camp, the weekend celebrates civilian wartime life, with period dress, big-band music and dancing in the streets and pubs. Sunday is the main day, when the Market Place closes to traffic for vintage car displays and there is a Vintage Emporium at the Memorial Hall. Steam trains run from Pickering station, which hosts Lindy Hop classes, and a free shuttle bus links the town with Eden Camp's own Back to the 1940s weekend. One of the most popular events on the moors, so expect Pickering to be full.
